001—ANIME EXPO Rebrand
Motion Montage, Logo, Identity Poster, Content Poster, Web, Phone

Introducing a reimagined identity for Anime Expo, one of the largest anime conventions in the world. This concept rebrand reframes AX from an event you simply attend into a living community you step into. My task was to take the identity from strategy through execution — building out the logo, visual language, and motion system, and bringing it to life across applications from posters to app UI to animation. Join us as we explore this transformation: "Step Into Our World."

Mission Statement

All year we gather in fragments—through screens, streams, feeds, and fandoms. We follow stories, create, share, and imagine from separate places.
Then the doors open.

Anime Expo is where thousands of worlds converge into one living society. For four days, fans, artists, creators, and dreamers become more than spectators. We don't just consume stories—we inhabit them, contribute to them, and create new ones together.

LOGO

The LOGO is built from simple geometric fragments that come together to form a unified symbol. Each shape represents an individual fan, story, or community, reflecting how anime fandom exists across screens, conventions, fan art, cosplay, and online spaces. When these separate experiences converge at Anime Expo, they form one living society. The identity captures this transformation, representing the collective energy of fans, artists, creators, and dreamers who come together to create something larger than themselves.

Posters

The brand language is built around the idea of connection, participation, and collective energy. Geometric shapes derived from the logo become a flexible visual vocabulary that can represent individuals, interactions, and the larger community coming together. These elements can be combined, repeated, layered, and rearranged to create a sense of movement and discovery while maintaining a consistent visual identity.

The system is intentionally dynamic rather than fixed, allowing each application to feel unique while still belonging to the same world. Through this language, Anime Expo becomes more than an event—it becomes a living visual system shaped by the people who participate in it.
